My Instruments
Share
During my thesis I wanted to develop and explore my creative process. I have studied design for several years but have had difficulty creating shapes that are mine and that I like. Where do I get inspiration?
I have always loved music and been fascinated by how emotions and messages can be conveyed through sound. I haven't had the patience to learn to play more than a few chords on a ukulele or a few beats on drums. I have instead found the patience in working with metal. So I thought I could create my own instruments. Then there are no requirements or rules for how it should sound.
Exploring function, sound, along with form, brought about a sense of playfulness. Starting from what I wanted the sound to be, the form then emerged. The two interact and are dependent on each other.
The end result was three portable instruments. A combination of jewelry and music.

Rhythmic bead . Made of silver, 18k red gold mount with a set green diamond. Filled with silver balls.

Singing bowls. Made of silver rings and gilded tombac, together with stones such as Citrine, Amethyst, Peridot and Smoky Quartz. Sounds in different tones and timbres when softly struck against wood.

Bracelet flute. A flute made of silver reeds that can play natural tones.

Hej!
